Hull Wilberforce House Museum Classic Tour

Wilberforce House Museum

Wilberforce House Museum explores the history of slavery, abolition and the legacy of slavery today. It is the birthplace of slavery abolitionist William Wilberforce.

The house has recently re-opened after a multi-million-pound refurbishment and it now forms the centrepiece in the city’s commemorations of the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade in the British Empire. It aims to make slavery and abolition relevant to Hull and its visitors.

Visitors can now explore Wilberforce House museum and collections whilst listening to the voice of “William Wilberforce” as he guides you around his historic former home, in an exciting and innovative new way using the latest digital technology.

These tours aim to bring to life the unique historical atmosphere of what life was like in the Wilberforce household during the 18th and 19th centuries. This atmospheric tour guides the listener through each of the rooms, and comes complete with interesting sound effects!
