EnglishFrenchGerman

This audio tour will introduce you to one of the oldest and liveliest areas of the city. We’re talking about the famous Nevsky Prospekt Avenue, which begins almost at the steps of the Hermitage Museum. It’s lined with buildings dating from many different periods and used for many different functions. Amongst others, there’s the Stroganov Palace, the churches of Saint Catherine and Our Lady of Kazan, the Dom Knigi bookstore within a magnificent Art Nouveau building and the Literary Café which Pushkin visited just before his death. Throughout its history, this thoroughfare has always been a very lively place. Of course, we’ll be making a few detours either side of the avenue and even stepping inside some of these places, famous for their history, architecture or current relevance.
