The Fortress of Chios town was built by the Byzantines, ten centuries ago. It always constituted the headquarters of each one of the islandís dominants. By this mean, the castle offers us a unique palimpsest of Chiosí history. Itís distinguished among the few seaside fortresses of Greece and is still today an alive cell of the town. The Porta Maggiore, the Justiniani Museum with the Byzantine exhibits, the Turkish Baths and the Bastions of the fortress are only some of the places you should visit.
